I'm not a fan of AVG, and Avast has a dreadful GUI. To be honest, you don't have to look at Avast's GUI much after it is installed and set up. GUI is a small price to pay for an effective antivirus which works on all windows platforms (and incidentally was one of the first to work on Vista x64), and is free.
